Being 'Rex'

Now came the difficult task, our BFF (best friend forever) had to be given a name. This would mark his identity in the human world. It would be this name, that he would be called by his family (us) and near and dear ones. The name had to match his personality and had to be slightly uncommon. So this ruled out, Timmy, Tommy, Jimmy, Boxer etc...
Rahul and I googled up, discussed and brainstormed over hundred names, called out the name aloud to feel it on our lips and ears. By the end of the day, we decided to name him 'Rex'. I agree it's not a unique name, however, we found it to be a perfect match for our little bud. His soft-toy like face would have an agrressive name, as Rex was derived out of Tyrannosaurus Rex - one of the most ferocious of the Dinosaurs.
It must have been about 5 PM IST - the tiny tot came to be known as 'REX'.

There! Those tiny little eyes were looking straight at me, into my eyes... My heart melted.

I wanted to hold him, cuddle him and give him a peck right on his little black nose.

The most cutest and adorable face I had ever seen.. Tiny paws knocking at my screen, eyes that were exploring the gadget that connected us virtually, the physical distance didn't matter...

How it all began....

It all began on 31st December 2008. My then Boyfriend turned Fiance, Rahul had a brain wave! Hold on, I will come to it shortly...

1st January 2009 was the usual routine stuff... call up family, friends and all near and dear ones and wishing them the best for the new year... Those days I lived in Singapore. The calling up ritual was then followed by cooking a silent meal for myself and ended watching 'Friends' all by myself the entire day. My room mates were out of country celebrating with their boyfriends. And here I was missing my sweetheart... I had exhausted my leave balance :(

It must have been 6 AM on 2nd Jan when my mobile rung... With closed eyes, I muttered, 'what the hell, who could have called me at this hour?'....

With an eye open, I looked at my mobile, it was Rahul... I answered the phone and he seemed all excited to tell me something... I was taken by surprise, as it was about 3:30 AM in India and my fiance was up and totally not sleepy...

He asked me to come online on Skype immediately and I rushed to switch my laptop on. Wondering what was that urgent that he couldn't wait to share with me... My heart skipped a beat...

Finally there he was on my laptop screen and this is what I saw next....
