The Separation

1st Nov - it was time to return to Pune. Rex and my in-laws would stay back in Miraj and join us in January... Rahul was very sad and so was Rex. Dogs have an amazing sixth sense and Rex knew that Rahul and I were leaving.. My heart broke. But we had to leave to join our jobs...

Travel to Pune was rather a quiet one. I felt sorry for both Rahul and Rex. I could sense the bonding that they shared... how they ached for each other....

We hear a lot about the beauty of human relationships, seldom do people speak or write about the special bonding shared by humans with the other living creations of God..  I now started reading a lot of books on Labrador upbringing and started numbering the days when we would see our little friend again....

Getting Acquainted

Now both Rex and I had to get acquainted.... He would come and sit next to me and do nothing... so yeah, the smart little fella wanted me to make the first move. Rahul ensured that the 'getting acquainted' process was rather a smooth one... I was made to serve Rex his food, water, milk, doggy treats etc etc so Rex would get used to my presence.

But on the second day, Rahul asked me to feed Rex! Now how could he expect me to do that...!!!
'It's too early for me to do that' came my curt reply. Rahul smiled and said - 'if you trust me you can trust him. He wont bite.' I was taken by surprise and ashamed as I wasn't giving my 100% to the little one.
But what could I possibly do.. I never had dogs and was not used to having one around. I told Rahul that I would definitely feed him, all by myself at the right time....

Rex meets Yennkay

Days passed by into months and soon came the D-day when Rahul and I tied the knot. Rex was made to crash in at Rahul's friend's place for a week's time as the wedding was in my hometown.
It was 29th Oct 2009 when I first met Rex at Miraj... I saw a big doggy wagging his tail happily when he saw me.
I was scared, no not scared, was nervous.... I was wondering how would I maintain my balance if he jumped to play with me.
I pinned my back to the wall and then came Rex, jumped on me as if he wanted to give me a huge bear-hug!! Yes Rex gave me a hug! Our first hug...
Out came a shout which was rather a mixture of emotions - happiness, excitement and nervousness.. that was me! :)
