Being Rex - a poem

Dedicated to the apple of my eye...

(unedited version)

My little Fawn-colored Boy,
Oh my Dear Lord! He is but coy!

This way and that he peers and sees,
When no one's watching him he goes and pees

Around the Trees and round the Plants,
He runs and runs and then he pants

He is a big Foodie,
Look at all his goodie goodies

He eyes at them with thirst and hunger,
little does he know over-eating is danger?

He chases the Cat, he chases the Fly,
He then finds a corner to lie

I sing to him a lullaby,
and he sleeps, snoring to glory...

Rex's profile pic

Now everyone likes to have their best profile pic clicked to upload on Facebook! If Rex had his own Facebook page then probably he would have this pic uploaded for himself :)

This is one of my favorite picture clicked in the Society's garden.. Rex is busy looking at something and my hubby managed to capture this.

Do we need to ask Rex to pose? He knows when his picture is being clicked. Always up for it!!

Rexxy boy turns 4!!

On Nov 17th, Rex turned 4. My boy is now a full-grown adult. But tell you what, he is still a kid to us. the little one needs all the pampering and attention and how we love to give him the same!!

We ordered a cake from Doggy Diners and many thanks to Mrs Kanitkar who baked an awesome Peanut Butter-Banana Cake. Rex loved it! No doubt!

Here are a few pics of Rex's bday celebrations...

and here's Rex eyeing the Cake...

The One!

Now there is a practice of either giving one pup to the Father's family or paying up cash once the pup is sold. We chose the former. Since we wanted to gift the pup to my husband's best friend.
We had Rex and the pup meet the day we visited them. Here's a picture of them getting acquainted.

We also clicked pictures of us with our Grandson :). Here are a few pictures.... never mind me.. I was super excited holding the little one, that which was the most amazing feeling!

The best part was he was purring like a cat, if I may call that. Wiggling and making himself comfortable in the warmth of our hands. Yes, he was The Chosen One! And was named Don temporarily for the record and a red ribbon was tied around him to be identifiable over his siblings.
Don would be handed over to us post 90 days since he would need the nourishment of his Mum's milk to grow strong.

Happy Father's Day!

So finally the news was out that Lisa had delivered. What a joy! But hold it! We were in for a BIIIIG shocker... in a good way ofcourse...!
Lisa had mothered TEN pups!!! Yoohooo...!! :)

So proud were we of Lisa and Rex! How they managed to do that.. that's something I would say was destiny's plans....

So, we chose the Father's Day (right after a day of delivery), to go and see the Mum and the little ones... I managed to capture a picture of all of them segregated in two boxes, cuddling up close to each other...

Now the pups could be easily mistaken for a bunch of fawn-colored guinea pigs since they are yet to grow with their features. A pup's 50% growth happens in the womb and the rest once they are out of it...

We made Rex meet the pups from a distance since he was not yet socialized with new born pups..

The Pregnancy!

How could I have possibly forgotten to write about the little Rexs and Lisas!! My bad...

We were told by Lisa's parents that Sonography showed up five embryos. Oh yes, that's completely authorized in the animal kingdom unlike the so-called sane human world!! But I was not entirely convinced as I had heard someone say, possibly a myth, that cats and dogs deliver in even numbers. So I was hoping there were six...

Lisa had become lethargic and started eating twice the amount of food in one go. Understandable, given that she was pregnant. She put on weight but interestingly I hear that she was up for a walk any given time. Now, that's like a good girl. I am sure she would want to stay fit and smart :)

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of her clicked during pregnancy.

That's so cheesy!

Rex's lunch today Chapati and Cheese! Yes, Cheese makes them put on weight. But why shouldn't Dogs get a treat once awhile? Like the way we get bored of Dal Chawal everyday... I am sure you'd agree that our Doggie Friends would get bored of the usual Pedigree.

But yeah to ensure the calories do burn, played Hide and Seek with him so that he would run around. No wonder he is catching up on his siesta and snoring away to glory.

And yes he likes to sleep with our clothes around him. He loves sniffing it and finds solace in the comfort of the soft fabric.

Brrrrr... Come hither, Come Winter!

Been wanting to write since a long time but couldn't find enough time juggling between work and home. But all this hasn't stopped me from spending enough time with my darling Rex. Over these few years, Rex has grown fond of me and so have I!

With the onset of Winter and the Mercury dropping drastically to 7 degrees, Rex has taken a liking to a new habit.. Sleeping on the bed with us. He curls up like a baby and loves a bear hug and being snugged inside a warm quilt. So human... He loves sleeping on the bed almost all the time! :) Uploading a pic of one of these instances...
